Content is King
In 1996, Bill Gates wrote an essay that changed the course of digital marketing titled “Content is King”. His essay explained how most of the money generated on the internet would come from content, very much like broadcasting.
For two decades now, people have been hearing the same phrase while much has changed in the digital marketing world, so does his phrase still stand true?
A vast majority still believe that content is king, especially with Google . Pages that rank as number one on google are usually formed of around 1,500 words. Content is the key to ranking well on Google, LinkedIn and many other social media platforms.
When we say content we are not only referring to a number of words written nicely together, because it also includes non-written such as videos, social media, podcasts. Whatever an audience can read, listen to and interact with is considered as content.
Making your content king needs to fulfil a number of criteria:
-You need to be unique.
-You should set and know who your target audience is.
-The information contained in your content should be informative, entertaining, error-free and reader-friendly.
-You need to optimise it for search engines.
In the SEO world, content is definitely king! Specific keywords used in content are known to uplift SEO rankings on Google. When you combine content with SEO effectively, you can achieve great results. Quality content helps you generate backlinks from high authority websites.
Quality content, know as “content is king” can be made easier using the 4 U’s
Useful: “I believe this has practical value for me.”
Urgent: “I must read this right now.”
Ultra-specific: “I know precisely what benefit this post will deliver.”
Unique: “I wouldn’t have read this anywhere else.”
