Bloggers VS Influencers

So many people are unaware that bloggers and influencers are not the same. They may appear to do the same things but in fact there are many differences between the two. Bloggers can be influencers whilst not influencers are necessarily bloggers.

The main difference to shed light on is that bloggers are usually paid to write content about a certain subject/brand/industry. Bloggers are observers and hey will conduct thorough research before sharing valuable and useful information with their readers. A blogger will add in their personal view point at times but they are mostly objective.

Influencers on the other hand are quite subjective. They would compose content or share images that fit in their daily lifestyle. Influencers can be paid to include certain content in their posts. Generally, influencers can create huge impacts on their many followers’ behaviors and opinions. An influencer will not scrutinize like a blogger would. Their posts don’t always fit a preset schedule; they post as often as needed.

As mentioned above, bloggers can actually turn into influencers if their content is enticing to the audience; bringing about adequate information.
A consistent, successful blogger will gain readers’ trust and hence will become an indirect influencer too!

Influencers are usually on the one social media platform (Instagram) while bloggers use many platforms to get their message across.

A blogger may and may not be a famous person while nine times out of ten an influencer is usually a celebrity and a trend-setter. A blogger will convey a brand’s voice or image from a professional marketing perspective. Influencers will mostly make it famous and desirable because people want what’s “trendy and hot”.

Bloggers give you well-rounded, meaningful stories down to the last detail. Influencers are not detail oriented; they are a one shot advertisement.

A well-balanced marketing strategy will include both bloggers and influencers. Bloggers however are more reliable; they give you better credibility, brand awareness and brand longevity. Influencers may also be very helpful but are not likely to keep promoting you on a regular basis.
The best combination is to have a blogger who is also an influencer and has many followers.
