How to Create Facebook Custom Audience?
What is a Facebook Custom Audience?
A Facebook Custom Audience is a targeting option businesses can use to import customer data, like email addresses, for retargeting on the Meta platform.
Custom audiences are an effective way for businesses to reach their most valuable customers or followers while driving down media costs and increasing their ROI.
Essentially, a custom audience is a group of users that you’re identifying as valuable to your business.
Benefits of Custom Audiences
Reach the Right Audience
Perhaps the biggest benefit of creating custom audiences is that they help you reach and connect with the right people: ones who are likely to be genuinely interested in your product or digital service.
Custom audiences can also help you create the right messaging. This is because the process of customizing the audience that views your ads really helps you understand who your target buyer is.
Target Existing Audiences
Creating custom audiences doesn’t just help you expand your reach. It also helps you target your existing audiences more effectively. It can help you create relevant digital campaigns that transmit the right message to the right ears.
Enhance Email or Direct Marketing Campaign
Custom audiences can also be a great tool for enhancing your existing email or direct marketing campaigns. This is because you can build lists based on data you already have access to like the names and email addresses of potential customers who have already signed up to one of your marketing campaigns.
How to create a Facebook Custom Audience?
Upload a list of customer contact information
If you have a list of email addresses for your customers/mailing list subscribers, you can upload either the complete list or small sections of it to Facebook to create a Custom Audience. As long as your customers/subscribers use the same email address with both your brand and Facebook, you’ll be able to target them with your Facebook ads.
Target people who’ve visited your website
Another option is to create a Custom Audience composed of people who’ve visited your website recently (as long as they were logged into Facebook when they arrived).
You can create a Custom Audience Pixel using the same workflow you’ll use to create your Custom Audience. Start by clicking the shortcuts icon in the top-left corner of the screen and selecting Audiences.
Click the Create Audience dropdown, then select Custom Audience.
Next, select Website.
Give your pixel a name, enter your website’s URL, and click Continue.
Next, you’ll want to select the conditions for creating your Custom Audience. You can choose to target all website visitors, only people who viewed specific pages of your site, or only people who spent a specific amount of time on it You can also specify the timeframe—up to 180 days.
When you’re finished making your selections, give your marketing audience a descriptive name, then click Create Audience.
